whelp i;m opening another office soon. I work in real estate & do most of the networking/adminstration. I racking my brain in figuring the best way to do something
our new office is going to be seperate from our current office. All of our applications IE forms, Home searches etc etc are all web based so there is no real software i have to put on the PC's in the second office.
All right this is where i'm stumped. By Md law my office has to have copies of all of our files. Since the location is going to be more than 50 miles a way mailing is not cost effective plus i want a way to get the total file to the office, addendums, etc etc.....
We buying an kyoceria-mita all in wonder copy machine/scanner/fax.....
I can scan over the internet but its not secure & I'm not too sure about it..
Any of the computer guys have any idea's i was thinking VPN but i heard they have issues.....

VPN can be a pain to setup.. but should be secure enough as long as you are using hardware firewalls & routers at both ends. This way you can encrypt / decrypt your data. I setup a VPN for the 2 stores I work with.. not fun to be honest.. but then I only dabble with networking I am not on the same level as Barry or Jeff for example. They might have better suggestions. Only other thing I can think of off hand would be to get an external hard drive.. scan everything and save it to that hard drive and then just ship the HD to your other location.

at work here we use SharePoint, I think it's a microsoft product, but you basically post your documents to it, and everyone can download them. That way when you update something everyone gets an email notification and they can immediately access the latest version. It can do more than that, but that's the part that would benefit you most based on your question.
