okay, I pulled a tranny from a 1992 probe gt.(5 speed)

is it the g-series or the crappy f-series?

1992? If that's the case that's from a 2.2L Turbo, right? I have no idea what trans is in those cars, but I got a feeling it may be neither F or G

That should be a K series tranny.

the tranny came from a probe gt, V6 model.

and yes it has to be a f series or g series.

I am pretty sure.

I thought the G and F series trannys only came on the 1.8s and 1.6, and the K was on the bigger 4 cylinders and v6s

the mx-3(1.8L V6) mtx, the ford probe gt(2.5L V6) or others?

there the same tranny, i've used both and there is no real difference, and mine now has a bit of the wear and tear that my old one did so i'd have to say there pretty much the same quality when we're talking strength

so, are the mx-3 v6 and probe gt v6 tranny's labeled the same or are they different(eg f series and g-series?)

well, I went out and checked mine, and it doesn't look anything at all like any of those in the pics.

I wonder ....when I pulled the tranny out of the donor car, everything came apart easy, and it had a brand new clutch in it(still had a trace of writing on the clutch face.) maybe the last person put something else that I don't know about in his probeGT.

who knows, I will tell all when I get it running later today.

G is for the v6
F is for the 4cylinder

sweet, that means that I have the g25m-r from a 1993(I think that the probegt should be the same) I have the 1992 model, and did the atx-mtx swap.

btw: that is exactly what I was looking for, thanks mx-3autozam!

YAY, I just got the atx-,mtx swap done tonite!

Runs awesome. I love 5-speeds.

Everyone should do this swap, it is way better than before(sic auto).

but be warned, I spent about 10-12 hours on this swap!

and the biggest Pain In The A$$ was the pedal swapping part(especially because I got my pedals from a probe gt, and they weren't exactly the same!

The break down on the trannies according to my documentation is as follow:

First letter:
F = 20 spline input shaft
G = 22 spline input shaft
H = 23 spline input shaft

First digit:
Production revision (1 or no digit, 2 or 3)

4 = 4 Gears
5 = 5 Gears

M = Manual

R = Remote Shift Control

X = AWD

well that makes sense according to the chart I have posted. But they all have R for "Remote shift control" so what exactly is that then?
