How to convert Mazda mx3 paint code (SQ) to RAL / Pantone

Post by mtrldk »

Hi there…

Need some help to find some kind of conversion table- or even better- if anybody has the correct RAL / pantone code, on the Mazda paint code “SQ”

Paint is called Blaze red or burning red, as the registration papers/service manual, from the UK dealer tells.

Car is of course Mazda Mx3, from 1992.

I did find some shops on the web offering the OEM-paint, but the dealer I use, only accept RAL / pantone codes.

Hope you could give some advice on this issue….

Thanks

Are you sure you need a RAL is a European color standard for in printing or industrial coatings. Panatone the color standard for the printing industry and no panatone color number will match an automotive paint color. BTW there is a slight variation in the panatone colors standards between north america, europe and asia so even if we over here were to give you a PMS# chances are that it might be a shade off.

Here are the color formulas for Mazda SQ paint code from a couple of the major paint manufactures found in almost every country. Every major manufacture of automotive paint has a cross reference to these code for there own paints and in a copolymer urethane paint system you have mention you want to use.

Sherwin-Williams #42847
PPG #73249
DuPont Imron #L9210 (europe)
