So i just did an oil change on my car and the service manual calls for 4 litres ( K8 ) so i did that. I run car and check my oil it is a quarter way past low on dipstick. my car usually hovers around there so my dad and i keep adding oil (when we pulled out old oil there was more than 4 litres), should i leave it there because i know there is 4 litres in there?

Wondering if possibly i got wrong dipstick in car, or something is bent.

Any suggestions

Thanks
Travis

k series engines call for 4.2 quarts of oil. After you run the engine let it sit for a while so the oil can drain back into the pan. I always check mine when the car is cold and parked on a level surface.

it will always show low while the engine is running or has been running thats because there shouldnt be any oil sitting in the pan only a slight amount should be there the rest is flowing through the engine, if you let it sit for an hour or so it will drain back into the pan.

You deffinetly don't want anymore oil that is required large amounts can increase oil pressure higher than it should be which can cause damage

when i do my oil change i put maybe 4.5 litres (quarter higher on the dipstick) bcuz after i start the car...it goes back to full/high since it goes to the oil filter.
