SOHC Problems
So i have a 1993 SOHC Mx-3. I got it and it ran like a dream, recently i have noticed a loss of power and its acting very strange. The lifters are tapping like crazy now, even after oil changes. It sputters and dies sometimes when i have the A/C on. The gas milage has gone to hell. The suspension needs work, i believe all the struts need to be replaced. I am losing patience with this car, what should i do?
well first are you getting a "check engine light" when was the last time you did a tune up like spark plugs, air filter, plug wires stuff like that? also for the lifters the only way i got rid of it was by changing my brand of oil i ran mobil 1 synthetic and seemed to stop it. since you say your gas mileage has gone to hell i would suspect a bad o2 sensor first. there is a online shop manual for this site
http://mx-3.com/95manual/index.cfm
and go to Fuel and Emissions for the B6 4 cylinder engine even though is for the 95 DOHC they have troubleshooting that goes for any car.
and then scroll the page down to F1-18 i believe. post your findings and someone should be able to help you.

I am not getting a check engine light, the only time i get that is if i unplug the o2 sensor. I have recently done a tune up on it, however i suspect i need to reset my idle, i am going to do that and go from there, the is not leaks on the intake so thats not it either. I will post when i am done setting the idle.
