how much do i need to retard my timing to run 150-175 shot. it will be running through a direct port setup and a progressive control. the motor is fully built (top end with new valvesprings and retainers and valves as well as reground cams. the bottom end with rods and pistons.
i know that the general rule used with hondas is approx 2 degrees for each 100 shot, i think its a bit much when talking about a car that's set at 10 detrees btdc. thanks

When you are setting the engine at 10 btdc that is only setting it up with the ecu because thats what it uses as a basis for all the ignition control.

Under high reving with little load its probally putting 30 degrees or so and when under a full throttle condition its probally around 25ish..
The question is how are you controlling your timing? If you move your distributor back a few degrees that is going to affect your whole timing map and probally slow the car down.

Otherwise Id say go with what the honda boys use.. 2 degrees aint much. Better to be safe than sorry.

i am controlling my timing with my msd box. when i turn on the switch for the nitrous it sends a signal to the msd which retards the timing by the amount set
