it looks like my shifter bushing are completely gone. The shifter just sits on the exhaust. Has anyone else encountered this problem? What can i do to fix it? Here are some pics:

i jsut had this problem a couple days ago..my rubber donut wouldnt stay up ...so i jacked up the car from the side...went underneith (there is a plate that the donut is attached to) find out where theres a decent size piece of metal to drill through mark it from up top ( mine is on the passanger side inbetween the shifter and the right top bolt..drill a hole through it and put a nut and bolt right through it and snug it up..wont drop through any more...
if any of that isnt clear let me know ...im bad at explaning stuff

get another used one thats all rusty and will break in like 6months. Have you considered going to Mazda to get one. You will be surprised onw aht it costs. Parts for these cars through mazda are very reasonable.

You had the [ img] and the [/ img] backwards.. the slash / goes at the end not the beginning. :)

he's talking about that anti drop bracket that rumnhammer makes. i bought one of those two but its still sitting around since i haven't had that problem yet. i agree though... from what i hear, to replace that rubber donut fromt mazda is pretty cheap, and it'll last another 15 years

hey, didnt want to start a new topic but ive got a issue id like to sort out. As i shift from 2nd to 3rd i hear a squeak come from the shifter, and i presume it does it for all the cross shifting but the cars too loud to hear. its most likely that the bearings need greasing, but how do i get to them? i havnt looked yet and im going to on the weekend but i just want a head start so i know what im looking for when the weekend comes.

thanks.
