Blew my headgaskit now..

Post by TREVO123 »

I recently blew the headgaskit in my BP Mx3 due to a huge hole in the rad causing it to overheat. So i pull the head, cleaned both Head and Block surfaces and applied a new head gaskit. I put it alll back together how it was and now i got a major problem...( Bottom End was tottaly rebuilt/top end was left alone)

It is Only running on the #1 and #4 Cylinders, I have tryed to trouble shoot the problem.. what i have figured out. It is Getting Spark, Has Compression.

Im thinking it may not be getting any fuel, But why would it not get fuel when the other cylinders do?

Any Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Your head is warped, plain and simple.

Due to the excessive head when you overheated your engine, your head warped. That would explain how it's only running on 1 and 4 cylinders cause that's the only two surfaces that are actually mating with the block.

You should take it off again and get it resurfaced... you better hope it's not warped so bad that your cams bind up when turned.

Sorry to break it down to you... you also might have to get a valve grind cause your valves probably aren't seated.

Before you rip it apart again, do a compression test... that will tell you what's going down.

Good luck!

Probably not cause the squish factor is gone once you torque it down. I wouldn't just to save you the hassle of taking the head off again. You probably have blow by marks from the head not squishing it down in the middle.

if your getting good compression i don't see why the head is warped...

if it was warped you'd notice ALOT of wear on the cams from too much pressure on the valves...AND you'd have bad compression from all the things that would be out of alignment...
