grinding at 4000 rpm

Hi,
I have a 94 DOHC 1.6. I get a grinding noise (sounds like a sheet metal piece rattling really fast, or a little bit like transmission gears grinding) from somewhere in the car at exactly 4000 RPM and above. Anyone know what it could be? Maybe part of the VICS system?
