engineworldusa 650?

Post by sk8erdude802 »

I just called engineworld to price an engine. I think I asked for a 93 626 2.5L engine and he said it was 650. Maybe I asked for the wronge one or did they just go up? In total, its 816 shipped to TN. Thanks for the rerality check.

I went to the engineworldusa.com site and that seems like a good price but how do you know if you are getting a kl-ze or a kl-de??

Well.. if he asked for a engine for a 93 626 2.5L.. it would be a DE. Unless thats a JDM 626 and I dont even know if the JDM 626 was called a 626 or if it came with a ZE (or if such a car even exsisted). So its a safer bet that he was referring to a USDM 626. Since the ZE engine is JDM only.. you would have to specifically ask for a KLZE engine when you call any engine importer (or seller) if you ask for the engine for a US car.. you will get a US spec engine. 626's, Millenia's, Probe's and MX-6's all came with KLDE engines in the USDM.

**Edit** One other thing of note.. The later 98 and later ( I think ) DE engines came with Solid Lifters & Solid lifter cams. No ticking.. ;) 626 & Millenia's only though.. The Probe & MX-6 were done by then.

Last time I check, the KLZE engine was about $600-$700
So that price does sound like it is for a KLZE

I've been to their warehouse. They know all about the KLZE's. If you order from them, tell them you want a straightneck KLZE for Mazda 626/Mx6. They know the difference.

Thanks.. thats my point exactly. You have to ask for the KLZE. If you ask for a replacement engine for a 626 or MX-6.. you may or may not get a ZE.

Ok so Ive been reading through the posts trying to find out what combo to use and there are alot of opinions. I was just woundering why you said to ask for a straigh neck. I was gathering that the curved neck would be just as good without having to relocat the battery. and I read in one of the stickies that you had to tilt the engine or something by cutting an engine mount. I dont know if I missed an easier way to do that or what but that makes it a pretty clear cut choice to me. Am I missing something? My plan was to get a curved neck and a KL31 or 36 ECU even though the vris are off. Ive been reading on this for about two years now and this is one of those cloudy things.

From what I have read.. the best combo to get that doesnt require modding the car to install.. would be to get the straight neck ZE engine (It has the KL31 cams that give more bottom end torque) and replace the intake with a millenia curved neck intake. I am theorizing based on what I have read around this site. I am sure others will prefer a different combination but this combo seems to be the power/easiest bolt in compromise out there.

and then just use a 31 or 36 ECU right? I just came across a couple of posts that support the millinea IM swap to a straight nect cause of the cams.
