Hey everyone, thanks for checking out my worklog!
I'll try to keep this updated as I acquire parts and the transformation of my mx-3.

:!: UPDATE :!:

OLD motor and trans out
Image

1st an old pic (around 2 years or so, not even sure)
Image

These 2 pics are recent, as in today (Sat. 26th May 07)

So...first off, you probably notice that my mx3 is dirty and looks exactly the same in the new and old pics. Basically my mx-3 has not changed in 4 years (give or take). :( This year, should be different!

Current motor is the stock SOHC 1.6l 4cyl, with a T3 turbo on it, that pretty much blows all the oil out throw the breather filter on the valve cover, brakes are shot as well as the shocks / struts.
Plans are to swap in a 1.8l BP / BPT motor, a G-series 5spd tranny, running off a microtech standalone, with a bunch of other goodies / replacement parts.

Here is the new tranny, complete with jack-shaft
Image
Image

B&M short throw shifter
Image
Assortment of SRD products: 3rd link bushing, shifter bushings, extension rod bushing, engine mount member bushings.
Image

Brembo blank rotors (front) and Hawk pads (front)
Image
Image

New drive shafts for the G-series trans.
Image

Spec stage 3 clutch kit
Image

New HKS filter and a 3rd gen Rx-7 TT fuel pump. (i also have a 190lph walbro, but may just step up to a 255lph?)
Image

In addittion to going standalone, I'll also be going disty-less.
Here is magnecor 8mm miata plug wires, a miata coil-pack, and miata CAS.
Image

ETD turbo manifold for the T3 super 60 turbo, also looks pretty cool!
Image

Greddy Profec B spec II electronic boost controller:
Image

Used HKS ssqv bov
Image

ZX2 S/R struts from ford racing, as well as the zx2 upper spring perches. (still waiting on the dust boot covers and thrust bearings to come in).
Image

No pics of the BP motor yet. It is at the shop, which is closed for this holiday weekend, so I'll try to get some in the coming weekends. I still have lots of other parts to get and plans for everything to be done are sometime around end of summer.
:D

Hye I was wondering if you could send me some info on the miata cas switch over. I never seen it done.

cyclonekid- I have not seen the miata cas set-up done yet either. My mechanic doing the standalone set-up said this or the stock disty both work well, and he has done both kinds of set-ups, just looks a little cleaner IMHO with the miata cas etc. Not sure what other parts from a miata , ie ecu, part of the wiring harness etc.., would be needed to run this if you were not going to use some sort of standalone ems. Sorry I'm not of any real help :(

Time for an update:
-engine swap, tranny swap, pretty much complete overhaul...not yet started :( ..soon though.
But, in the mean time I am still collecting parts.

--Eunos Presso front bumper  No "aggressive" front lip though, but I have 1.5 usdm GS front lips, which I will attempt to fix / make work.

Image
Image
Image

--To go along with the new bumper is JDM front fog lights (white/clear lens).
Image

--Whiteline 22mm rear swaybar
Image

--SuperPro rear twin trapizodal link bushings. Check this link out from clubprotege for info: http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23915
Image

--Another upgrade that I got from the salvage yard, was the GS rear disk brak set-up, including spindles, hubs, master cylinder, brake power booster, front brake hard lines / rear crossmember hard lines, proportioning valve, e-brake cables and random bolts/nuts, as well as the Front, Rear, and trailing links and stock swaybar  I didnt want the links/ swaybar, but with only hand tools and with the yard closing i had no choice.
Image
Image
-Also notice the stock v6 front transverse member / brace and random stock taillight
Image

--New brembo rear rotors, akebono rear pads, and new calipers for all 4 corners.
Image

That is all...for now, mwhahaha
:D

Hey Moon, thanks for the comments! If you still have the yellow fogs and you ever plan to sell them, keep me in mind  (also thanks for the heads up on the fog light switches).

Small update...
(seems like this project / restoration is going to take forever)
MX-3 is finally at the shop, where all of the work will be done  First step will be to remove current motor / rad / intercooler and all A/C parts. Cleaning the bay, and possibly painting it all black (not sure on this yet).

Have some pics of more parts :D

Went to the local salvage yard today (7 Dec. 07) and found this:
Image
Factory MX-3 black front floor mats  ...They are in great shape, just need to be cleaned. All the random bolts / clips are oem front bumper mounting hardware to mount the eunos front bumper.

Now the ubber PIMP purple parts
Image
Image
1st...Flyin Miata adjustable cam gear. (pic is of one gear, but I have 2, intake and exhaust)
2nd...Flyin Miata dual feed fuel rail.
NOT pictured, is a spare BP cam gear plastic cover that I also got from the junkyard (escort gt) to modify when these gears go on.

This is a Microtech DASH unit, displays pretty much everything from the standalone, and you can make adjustments using this, or just unplug and plug a laptop in. Also has warning LED's / shiftlights etc...
Image
Well, thats it for now...will update as work gets done :D

The badges are actually from a mazda roadster (miata / mx-5), so now people will really have no idea what kind of car it is
