Hi everyone, I have a 96 Mazda MX-3, 1.6L DOHC... a couple problems i need to fix still... CV Joint, Serp Belt, and the small piece of hose in between the throttle body, and the air box. I have it duct taped right now, i was thinking of making a polished intake at work out of aluminum, and weld it up and whatnot, but we'll see.

Anyways, I was just wondering what kind of options I have as far as making this car go fast, either with this engine, or another one, I was jsut kinda skimming through here, I have heard of people doing engine swaps and whatnot. Does anyone turbo the stock engines at all? keep in mind that I don't have thousands to spend (unless saved over a long period of time) Just want some advice...

Also, whats the deal with the civic headlights? this may be an option I would have to exercise if i cant find any projector headlights, which so far I cant for the MX-3. I think changing the headlights is sort of something needed, and it makes it look a lot less girly. lol

rotflol... hey, be nice now.

erixon, the you are exactly like everyone else on this board, want to go fast, don't want to put down the cash.

Just a few tips for the forums, use the Search button as much as you can, make sure to select "Search for all terms" when doing a search. Do some searces on BP and BPT swaps (1.8l and 1.8l turbo)

Also, read through the work logs, theres tones of good ideas in there.

unfortunately, the MX-3 is at the point in it's lifetime where it's so cheap, the majority of people buying the car are poor college kids

... like me...

which don't have excess money to spend on their car.

advice: start reading. use the search button. read some more. It'll take a lot of research. Use the FAQ section, it has a LOT of information.

when you see something you like, such as a certain engine swap you're considering (BP, or, FE3 :D )
search for that specific engine. learn what you can.
want to stay with your b6? search for that engine!

simply typing in "B6 AND mods" in search yield a lot of results. Read read read! (the AND operator is very useful!)

another sad thing is you can't get much more power out of the 4cyl then it has unless you put alot of money into it. I was thinking of adding a turbo onto my 4cyl, though i don't want to custom spend over $3000 to do this. I decided just to upgrade a little things (air intake, better plugs, upgrade electrical system) that type of stuff and leave my performance to the "look factor"

There are tons you can do with that engine because it is the same engine as the miata / 323 GTX / Capri XR2

cams
intake
header
turbo
nitrous
flywheel
rods
pistons
etc.
etc.

If you live near texas contact racingmazda.com they are still looking for a test car to do a turbo kit and i'm sure they'd cut a deal
