Heya, recently bought a 92 4 cylinder MX-3..

Post by Paradox MX-3 »

Heya, I recently bought a 92 MX-3 and I was wondering what would be the best option to get the car to running 12-13s. I'm looking for something that will be a relatively easy swap or job. The MX-3 is a 1.6l atm. Thank you for your information and posts.

haha :D

first go to the main forum index and look for "4 cylinder Faq" near the top, you can swap in a bp from a protege and since you have a 92 the swap will be even easier and youll get a good platform around 125bhp to work from and you can either build it up keep it n/a or you can turbo it. lots of info you can use the search function at the top just watch out this question has been ask numerous times. hope that helps

or u can do what i did and spent $5,000-6,000 going that fast isn't cheap guy. and im only at a 12.8@110 with the option of make it go even faster. beides the auto trans can't hold power for shyt it could barly hold 88HP from that 1.6 sohc.

Thanks for the help. And yeah I know many people dont consider that cheap but IMO it is. I'm a real fan of the MX-3 and have been trying to get my hands on 2 in decent shape and I finally got one that I can set up for the drag strip.

Another route is if you plan on going boosted is the BPT. I love it at stock, that form. But it has room to grow on. I have seen 310 whp on one, that is I road in it too. Crazy fast. There is faster ones out there. Very easy swap if you take the time and buy the right parts and dont go the cheap route. Need any help just PM me.

Thanks guys for the support TREVO123, mazdamx3sohc feel like im back at home. I been busy working and been on clubprotege a lot but i gave up on these guys thier thinking in power is to small in my opinion. but these protege, escort guys really pissed me off. they are they and no one else wonder why they gave me so much shyt probly becuase MY lil MX-3 is faster than there fastest. They couldn't tell the difference bewteen a FE3 and a BP thats sad. Enough talking before some on here post what i stated on there borad.

TREVO123 didn't u have a sohc i think thats someone else. if it makes u feel any better i have NO V.I.C.S. on my BP nor do i have TPS, VAF, DISSY, PS, A/C, everything under the dash is gone. lets just say that my MX-3 is in race setup form. its no longer a street car but i still drive it as my daily driver @ 18psi. REMEMBER guys its not at 18 psi all the tyme. as long as i keep in under vacum the BP is in no stress at all. Thats what the clubprotege guys failed to notice. BUt i do boost it up to 18psi everyday to get my boost fix. I know its addicting.

Update: friday night at the track new tyme 12.4@116 @18psi finally 2step it off the line. these that don't know. I took off the line at 5psi instead of taking of the line on vacume no boosted. feels funny like the elelvador ride. One of the guys stated im far away from a 11 sec MX-3.

this coming weekend is middnight maddness in san antonio where i'll be racing with the 10,11sec hondas, mitsu and other makes and models.
by then i'll have the f-series trans replace with the G-series trans along with a ACT EXTREME clutch and will boosting at 25psi. so wish me luck hopefully that will get me into the high 11's. I have a point to prove.
