626 Transaxle

Post by MazdaNoob123 »

I heard you can put a 626 transaxle(5speed) into a MX-3.
I plan on doing a KLZE swap in the future, and i was wondering what all transaxles from 626's are compatiable. The junkyard has a ton of them. Would the transaxle off a mid 80's 626 with a 4banger in it work ?
or does it have to be out of a KLDE/KLZE 626.
Please let me know
I still cant find anywhere in the shop manual where it says there should be a 1in hole in the side of the block. (Blown K8) #6 rod thrown through block.

It will work no problem, but it has to be from the KL. Been sone several times on KL swaped Mx-3s, but I dont believe anyone had tried it on an K8

I have a 626 tranny mated to my klze and the only thing I had to do was move one of the studs to a different location but other than that it worked! Pluse I have lower rpm's when I'm in 5th!
