Direct-fit high flow cat

Post by nightfire »

Does anyone make a bolt-on high flow cat for the K8? All I've found is OE replacements.

you guys do know that they are illegal, and arnt a true replacment for a catyletic converter, they are basically just a glass packed cherry bomb but in a smaller version. Also using one of these there is a great chance that you wont pass you emmissions testing if your state or country has them.

Yeah I saw that one but I wanted to keep it street legal. I ran my escort with headers and a straight pipe for years and I always felt guilty about it. We don't have emissions testing here but..

your best bet is to buy a magnaflow high flow cat, i got mine from crappy tire for like 80 dollars and tax. but then again it is a universal and you would have to weld on flanges.

Looks like that's the case eh. :/

Any idea where I'd find such flanges? Should any old 2.25" flange with the same bolt pattern work?

Actually in Quebec we do have testing but there is no annual inspection yet because it has been delayed untill the people at the inspection stations are fully trained but it will only be a matter of a year or two. However if your car gets sent to inspection the SAAQ does have an emission test on the check list of items the vehicle has to pass to remain on the road. Right now it is up to the inspector to do the test and even then the results are only recorded and data sent to quebec city whether the car passes or not.

Does anybody here know of an ebay shop that sells the "cherry bomb" like el cheapo cat converters that actually are direct bolt on fit on the GS? The pictures always show the two flanges in line (which they aren't on the GS) and never state GS or V6 os..
