dohc vs sohc

this may sound alittle stupid but i'm not big on cars so i figure i'll try. what is the difference between the DOHC engine, and the SOHC engine? and what are the advantages and disadvantages of them? i think i may know the answer but i'm not sure...

DOHC = Dual Over Head Cam<BR>SOHC = Single Over Head Cam<BR>Dual cams = more HP

thanks shady, so arent v-6's all dohc? and 4 cylinder's all sohc? thats what i was told.<P><BR>93 gs mx-3 1.8 v-6

DOHC alows you to change intake and exhaust timins seperatly since they have a seperate cam for each. with a SOHC 1 cam pushes both intake and exhaust valves so if you retime the intake exhaust changes with it
