Please help with Air Intake

Alright, today i dropped 100 bucks on a spectre air intake system. I took my old air box and all that out. then i took the blow valve off and the sensor. I then clamped the new air intake onto the MF. Clamped the air cone on and plugged the blow valve onto one of three ports on the side of the pipe. Then I plugged a smaller tube in the second of three ports...(which i don't know whats for.) Car started but sounded like crap and made a loud high pitched whistling sound, then my car would die. Took it apart and tried installing with the sensor part inbetween the 3 port pipe and the cone then my car would not even start. Hooked up stock air box and car ran fine.
What did I do wrong?
If someone could please leave a detailed walkthrough on how I fix the problem that would be great. Pictures preferably.

mus of had a leak, make sure it was on all the way and you did use the VAF right? any leaks after the VAF can cause it to die.
