Exhaust Presilencer vs resonator

Post by Graphixv »

I have to replace my exhaust including the cat.

I got the Walker center unit but it looks like it has a resonator on it instead of the presilencer (or center muffler as some say).

What's the difference between the stock presilencer vs using the Walker replacement part which has a resonator on it?

:?

There is no real difference just different names for the same thing.

For me there was a difference in sound - the stock one was very quiet while the walker one was considerably loud - especially at highway speeds.

Just asking because it didn't look like the org. We'll see, I'm not a fan of loud cars.

yea the stock resonator looks like a box and the walker looked like a bulge in the exhaust tube. I looked forever and finally cannibalised a resonator from a protege - it has been quiet since.

Sort of raspy high pitch - not desirable at all. The stock resonator combined with a walker muffler produces a nice deep sound (only when accelerating)...
