please tell me it's just my axle

so last nite at work i pull into the parking lot and my axle pops really bad and then the steering wheel starts shaking and i go to give it gas to go to my parking spot and it revs up but won't move. my worry is a have another axle wouldn't that move me along or what. i'm just hoping it's my axle. please help. should it move if just one axle is broke or not

It wont move if one axle is broken - kinda like when your stuck in snow or mud and one wheel keeps spinning and the other doesnt.

But if the axle is broken would it not make some bad noises and possible bang on the underside....

thats what i thoguth but it really wasn't making that much noise so i don't know.i'm towing from work tomorrow morning so i'll find out this weekend
