im sure this has been anwsered before but i cant find the anwser anywhere on search or PT so i would be very glad if someone could help.

I was wanting to delete my egr system all together and block it off with the ZE plate made for it. Sence i live in florida and we have to emissions at all! YAY! but what will i do with the vac. lines? also willl there be any cels or cause the car to run poorly? THANX!!!!

The EGR valve only works while there is no load on the engine. For example going down the highway in high gear. What it does is reburns the enert gases by sending it back threw the engine.

But not sure how to get rid of. Dont want to give you false info on the ZE.

Treat this as rumor and verify with your own search....

If you have a ZE - and K8 ecu the CEL will be on because ZE does not use EGR system.
People use kl31 or kl36 ecu for ZE, but that will eliminate CEL completely (it wont come on even if there are problems).
Another alternative for ZE is to use a probinator chip on K8 ecu i think.

If you have K8 and want to block off EGR - you can do that but you have to leave all the solenoids and sensors plugged in (electrically) to avoid codes.

im not worried about cels or codes. just want to elimenate it all.......meaning if i pull the egr off and block it with a ze block off plate will it just elimate everything? or is there more that needs to be done?

Ok well i'm running a KLZE with a millenia intake manifold. There was the K8 manifold on there originaly. When I swapped it out, I got pretty confused, so i decided to just block of the egr rather than trying to make it work. I simply blocked it off with a plate on the IM, and hooked up everything but egr. That means all the solenoids, everything. Just left it dangle, in a safe place. I plad to come back later and orginize it, but for now it works fine.

Now, I'll also add that i do have a probinator chipped K8 ECU and it does thro the EGR codes, but only the vent and vacume solenoid codes (28, 29). So if i plug those in, it should go away.

I can't say forsure weather or not the engine runs any different, because my o2 sensors are shot/not plugged in. As long as the collant line is blocks off or hooked up then not alot can go wrong (the EGR uses coolant temp, and you don't want a big coolant leak now do you!) As well, make sure there are no vacume leaks anywere else.

There are a coupel of other ZE guys without EGR on here, without any known problems. I'd say go ahead, but know that were not accontable if something goes wrong, machanical OR legaly.

do what I did.. I got a probinator chip which will still store codes for the egr by the way, just wont stay on. I got the k8 egr and just connected the sensors. No codes scored in the memory. You get a very minimal hp gain. I guess its good because it stops recirculating the hot gases.

You should be worried about codes - if the CEL stays on it means the ECU is in limp mode and the engine wont run properly....

the engine doesnt go into limp mode with egr codes.

I dont know if its different for 6 cyl (it shouldnt be) - but it does go into limp mode for 4 cyl when the EGR position sensor is unplugged - a guy at local mazda dealer tested it with NGS diag tool. I didnt test the difference between just unplugging the solenoid vs unplugging the EGR position sensor - maybe just the solenoids wont put it in limp mode - i dont know.
