Low-PSI Turbo BP Build: Few Questions

Post by Cy »

So i'm picking up a BRAND NEW never on a car SAAB turbo from a guy for 125 bux... Orginally bought dealer new, sold for 250, sold to my friend for 175...
It's small and is set to run 7psi factory, which is Fine by me, for now  ...

Anywho... I'm not new to boost just new to boosting a BP.. I'm running the newer style bp on my b6dohc Ecu and it runs fine(NA)..

I plan on making a BP manifold at the machine shop i work at..1/2" mild steel flanges and 2"-Internal, Schedule-40(0.200" wall) pipe..
Plans are:
- Head flange machined and lapped to .001" flatness
- 3" leads to the log-body
- 3" piece with Caps on the ends for a collector
- 2" piece to bring the turbo off the manifold and keep it outa anything's way
-Turbo flange with a bellmouth hole
-I may weld some 1/2"x1/2" pieces to the body to help disappate heat and give it strength.

-For the mean-time i hope to change nothing as far as ecu goes.
-BOV i'm hoping to get ahold of by next month
-Fuel injectors should handle my level of boost
-FPR is being aquired
-I'm pming around for an AFR meter, Intercooler(though i don't think it's nessicary at this level always a good idea)
- Oil cooler I'm getting from a junkyard and Machining an Adapter plate, which will allow 25% bypass direct-to-filter. With another filter pre-cooler
-Exhaust is 2", no cat, no res and a no-name muffler..

-I'm also getting a Digital Liquid-Flow meter(i like to know how fuel efficient I'm being)

I don't think i've forgotten any of my planned upgrades. The only thing i'm trying to decide on is weather i need a MegaSquirt before i install this or not.

Any suggestions are welcome..Also looking for parts I'm going to need, from central to eastern canada only please..I hate the border charges...

It was installed to test function on the old motor for under 100km then the car was parted out..

It's a year old and been kicked around a garage... the letter's are a little dented and the outlet port has a dent, but it's perfect on the inside of the hot and cold side's. The vaccume port hada crack so i snapped it off so i can drill and tape it for a new one.

The turbo and compressor fans are in perfect condition and have not been reconnditioned by glass bead or another other process i can tell.

The rust again is from being in a garage for so long..
