Hello, I´m waiting for my ZE, and before it comes to my country I bought all necesary parts, the ECU too. I bought one used probe ECU and chiped it with the KLZE chip for sale on ebay, the question is:

Can I test the new ECU in my stock K8 car?

I'd be affraid to trust a ecu by some random unknown company that's controlling my motor.

Its probably the kl31 programm or kl36, simply ask the seller what program it is.

its similar to what probinator sells...but ot exact. fromw aht i read on his cardomain there is a eprom floating around the net, Probinator got it and sent it to a guy who does the stuff and there is data missing. I have no clue if these ebay chips are like that or not.ut personaly I wouldn't trust any chip from anyone.

Probinator many people have used and actually like it therefore i would use it. But definitly not an ebay one. thats like using ebay coil overs for autocrossing!

A bad ECU can kill the engine? I can´t figure how it can do. The seller has good feedbacks about that chip, really is a simple programed EPROM, the same that a EPROM from a Mazda ECU. My K8 ECU and the Probe ECU that I bought are the same, the only difference between is that EPROM.

If the program is wrong, you can get very lean for instance, wich again could melt your pistons. (I believe heat increases as fuel decreases? seem to remember fuel cooling stuff down before igniting)

trust me, never trust a $20 chip from Ebay.
And the point he has positive feedback on this, I`m sure people have gotten good feedback on the resistor mod "chips" too...

This is not like the resistor "super mod" on ebay, really a blank EPROM is cheap, and if you have a board to program it with PC via serial and an original mazda EPROM is easy and cheap to duplicate it, for that it only cost 20$ in my opinion, but all is possible...

I will ask the seller to know if he use a KL31 or KL36 chip duplication, or a custom programed chip.

In any case, if the chip was good, can be used with my K8 to test it? an original KL31 or KL36 ECU would damage it?

thanks
