1.8L T4ycl (BPturbo)

Post by 666raCing »

Whats up with this? It's an engine that corksport offers. i've never heard of this engine, but a 1.8 with 210 HP AND a turbo, it must be pretty sweet. does anyone know about this?

*this should probably go in the 4cyl section*

Although Mazda made many versions of the BP, there are 2 versions of the FWD/AWD BPT. The standard version is the GTX 180hp version. The 210hp version is the rare GTR. Not sure on the differences, but for what I remember, I know the GTR has a larger turbo, but the GTX is easilly capabe of 210hp+ as well. But I dont know why the GTR is so special and saught after, since the GTX is capable of comprabal potential

the gtr is strictly for bragging rights imo as the gtx is a very capable engine itself, heck even the regular bp is capable of taking some boost...
95 RS so far just a paintjob, rims suspension next then turbo...
Image I have turbo dreams and detanation nightmares

The only upside to the GTR engine is it has the beefiest stock rods capible of handling upto around 500HP along with a higher flowing intake manifold and hollow cam shafts.

For the price differance you could build a regular BP to kick the crap out of it.

My old 1.6l B6T with the little Capri rods took 26psi for over 10,000miles (same rods found in the NA BP engines). I had hit 30psi a few times on that engine.
