Anyone with a complete running SOHC B6????

Need to replace the engine in my car.

I am in South Carolina, and would like to pickup within a few hundred miles or ship.

I doubt it. Most of us just end up trashing them because we cant even GIVE them away.

If you are going thru the trouble of pulling out a motor, you might as well put in a BP in its place. All of your mounts and plugs and everything will plug right in. You can find them for $500 or less if you look in the right places.

The header/downpipe on the BP even lines up with the mid-pipe of the SOHC.

You would need to source an ECU and a VAF, but I have an extra one of those if you want them.

You will thank me.

Dont pull out the SOHC and then replace it with another POS SOHC. The Mx-3 is a lot more fun with the BP and you will get stock driveability and reliability.

I appreciate the idea, but there seems to be so many contrasting stories about the requirements of the swap.

injector harness mods? exactly what model BP will be the easiest fit?

what is a VAF?? is it air flow??

how much would you want for the ecu??

Also, on your site i found some pics of your BP, there is one with the same black top valve cover at the junkyard about 2 miles from here, he wants 400, but he doesnt know the milage or history on it.

Thanks

The only contradictions would be if you got the BP from a Ford Escort. The Fuel rail & harness are different. The Mazda ones are identical.

You could actually search Craigslist in your area and find a Protge LX donor car for around $500.

VAF= your air flow meter.

I would take $50 for the ECU-- but seriously- you should try to find an entire donor car and you will thank me. It will be TONS cheaper and easier.

To make it super easy, get the ECU harness too so everything plug up perfectly. I got mine for $7 from my local pull-a-part.

I appreciate your help.

I might look around for a protege, could you tell me what years the motor is in?

Thanks

There are none in your area right now-

http://greenville.craigslist.org/search/car?query=mazda

but keep checking or even better- check around in your local junkyards & pull-a-parts.

Or- check the craigslists in cities around you.
