Just driving on the old ones, don't wanna store the car for the winter on new tires and rot $500+ in tires. Plus, i'd rather spend money on xmas gifts than on new tires, especially since the car is going to be stored for the winter.

Re: we need more mx3's in the car shows
Seeing as you're not very far away from the GTA area, how come that being a member for nearly 2 years and we haven't seen you attend any MX3 meets. At least I don't recall your nic when it comes to the weekly and weekend meets that we've had in Niagara, Oakville, Toronto, Guelph, etc. I'm not sure if I've even seen you post in the Toronto Forum either. If you're really keen on seeing some MX's, why not attend some of the meets that are coordinated through the Toronto Forum.soupedmx3 wrote: lets see wat u got
Those of us that consider ourselves to have a nice ride would not consider driving them through the snow and salt to show others in the first place ..... at least I can't see myself doing it. If you were at Importfest and parked underground, then you should have saw 4 MX's parked together near the main entrance.

a better topic would be "we need more mx3's in the car magazines"...
i mean, is the mx-3 really such an underling? yet no magazine doesn't go one month without featuring a CIVIC EG from the nineties on at least four full pages, or an instruction guide on how to lower an Accord?!?!?!
what gives
for some reason, the mx3 gets no respect in the import-mag world. not that it's dissed by the mags. more like: completely-ignored-and- dismissed- from-existence.

Oh, I see. Well, I guess the same question still remains unanswered - why has he not bothered to join in in any of our meets in the last 2 years?Nd4SpdSe wrote:He has the Mx-3 that was in the show, the one with the funky paint job, Civic projectors and Mitsu tailsjschrauwen wrote: If you were at Importfest and parked underground, then you should have saw 4 MX's parked together near the main entrance.
I'm not sure if it's a case of lack of respect. The production numbers in the US may be an indicator of it's popularity, or lack thereof. There is a plus side to all of this though. It appears that our cars may be a bit of a unique annomally. When done up right, can be very impressive and stand out far and above any Honda type. Probably becasue of it's scarcity and lack of numbers in the US. I wouldn't be surprised that in the years to come, the MX will take it's place amoung other unique breeds that have also been out of production. Then again, who know's, perhaps Mazda will re-introduce the MX-3 badge again and thereby draw attention to it's predeceasor.illapino wrote: the mx3 gets no respect in the import-mag world. not that it's dissed by the mags. more like: completely-ignored-and- dismissed- from-existence.

You are correct about the US sales numbers having something to do with it. The those of us in Canada especially in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, where at one time you could be stuck in traffic and see 10-12 othe MX-3 around you, tend to think that the MX-3 is more popular that it really is. Also in the US a large percentage of the MX-3 RS in '94 and '95 with the ATX were not bought new of the lot but were dumped in the Car rental fleets because they weren't moving of Mazda's inventory.jschrauwen wrote:I'm not sure if it's a case of lack of respect. Age of the car as a lot to do with it as well after all it has been 10 years since the last one was imported to N. America and 8 years since that last one rolled off the assy line. 6 to 7 years ago pictures of my MX-3, Lisa's MX-3, Dave Lauzier car and several others would pop up in Super Street, SCC, Turbo and PAS as well as various catalog and newspaper shots . Some of us were asked to have have our cars shoot as a feature. Myself and Lisa turned down the invitations although her and her car were in the Summit racing catalog back in 1999, Sean's car was never finished. Super Street did shoot Steve "Tekguy" car in 2000 buy was never published. After this lack of interest by the car owners, all the major US magazines lost interest in the MX-3. PAS had published many MX-3 over the years and (the original) Super Street in France. and Options in Japan as also done pictorials.
Having been it the printing and publishing industry for many years there is something that many of you probably never considered. It is not uncommon for a manufacture to "purchase" editorial space to promote there brand name without advertizing.

the 4 of us where parked in the undergound, we where not in the show, we where just there as spectators.soupedmx3 wrote:weather shouldnt be a factor thers trailers u can pull the same way i got mine down to importfest...if there was 4 mx'3 parked together then y wasnt there an award for our cars?
secondly, cars are ment to be driven, not trailered. and not all of us can afford a trailer.

to be under their consideration is impressive. remember any issue numbers where an mx3 dominated at least 2 pages of a major magazine? i'd like to peek those. if its in the mid nineties tho, i doubt they look good as what these boys and girls are pumping out here on mx-3.com ... what i believe though is that the mx3 is shunned from mags coz of its performance: i rarely see anything under 220hp make a feature. i don't think age has anything to do with it: 89 MR2's and Nissans are always spreadedYoda wrote:Age of the car as a lot to do with it as well after all it has been 10 years since the last one was imported to N. Did you foot the bill yourself to trailer your car there?soupedmx3 wrote: thers trailers u can pull the same way i got mine down to importfest...
Why didn't you drive your car there?
Did you pay your own entrance fee?
Were you subsidized in any way to attend the meet?
How could you afford to trailer your car, pay your own entrance fee, and be able to afford 3 days worth of hotels and meals. Rough calculations would be approximately;
$90.00 per night hotel (minimum) = $270.00
$35.00 per day for meals (minimum) = $105.00
trailer rental (3 days) guestimate = $60.00
Truck rental to pull trailer (guestimate) = $80.00
Gas and incidentals for 3 days = $60.00
Total to be a participant in a car show without subsidization = $575.00
And this would be low balling it.
Hmmmm, I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I hope you're not expecting us to chase you to attend MX meets in and around an area that would take you less than 45 minutes to reach? To ask you to attend these meets? It doesn't quite work that way. Being an MX-3.com member for 2 years, I would think you would know that by now. If you would like to attend, make an effort to search the Toronto Forum for upcoming events.soupedmx3 wrote: if u wanna keep in touch add me to msn or somethign and ill be sure to come to as many as possible next yr and meet some new ppl..eklipse47@hotmail.com

Hmmm, I dont think the 626 would like towing a trailer, LOL!
Well, could i afford it, maybe, but it's pointless. My car is not designed as a trailor queen show car. I will admit, sometime between now and next year I am planing on getting a truck, with one of the intentions is to trailer the Mx-3, but not only to shows, but I also race my Mx-3, so far drags and SoloII/Autocross, so with that I dont have to worry about being stranged if something breaks, but the moment the snow, sand and salt are off the road until winter truely kicks in (we did get one snow storm, but the weather is still nice), she is a daily driver, rain or shine.
In essence, it's not beneficial of my expense to spend that kind of money to enter it in shows cause unless there is an Mx-3 friendly class, the odds of me winning are very poor. Yes, I will admit, I wasn't too happy in how we were shoved into an "Import Other" class, not even a "Mazda Other" class, but besides for that (and waiting 8 hours to be judged), just being there, hanging out with the SlipStream crew and being part of the show, and seeing the show, was fun and i'd do it again.
