About the BP SWAP
My engine recently went and i just scored a sweet a-- deal from my dads buddies daughter got a 96 escort gt with 195k km for $300 CDA!!! but its auto and my mx3 is 5 spd.
So my question is... since i put a new clutch in my mx3 2 months i was wondering if it is possible if the flywheel and the 5spd tranny with fit on the bp engine and if there would be anything i should worry about or need to switch from auto to 5spd and what else i need to know about the swap i got the basics already...
and whats sweet is next year when it gets a lil warmer out i'm gona throw the rear wheel disc brakes from the escort to the mx3 hehe!

yeah you can put the BP with your f-series trans. Gottagofaster, and limegreenmx3 have both done it. You may want to consider switching to a G-series tranny (BP trans) because the F-series is pretty weak. Limegreen will vouch that his F-series took a beating for quite some time while mated with a BP engine, though.

nah I've been on the lookout for quite some time. I've ran into a few autos, but nothing manual yet. I'm looking for a Kia Sephia tranny right now mainly, but also checking for escort or protege ones too. There's two junkyards in oakville that I'm keeping an eye out for: B&D and ontario auto salvage. Hamilton has lots of places though doesn't it??

if u have a 92-93 mx-3 the swap is easy u'll need the wiring harness and ecu the f-series trans , clutch & flywheel bolts up to the bp its all plug and playRed_MX3_92 wrote:funny i'm getting the excort from oakvile but u know where theres a good place to find a bp tranny around here...
BBUUTTTT
if u have a 94-96 mx-3 the wiring part will be a nightmare but if u look in teh 4cly faq there is a write up on the bp swap for the 94+ models it was a auto swap too.
the f-series will hold up if u don't consantly abuse it but after 40 pass on the stock clutch and 10 pass on a ACT clutch on slicks than diff finally ripe apart on me. damn act really grabs which is why it hold held up to 10 pass. best time 15.6@88. 2450lb

OKay after some researching, Apparently they kept that body style till 1996.
Everything I have been told and read in the past said that they stopped in 1995.
I am wrong, I can admit it.

However, they must have made VERY FEW 1996 models of the GT.
