If I understand what you are talking about, it is a small clip that holds the brake line to the strut so that it isnt dangling everywhere. Sometimes it can be a real pain to remove but you should be able to pull it out with plyers or a flat head screwdriver after loosening the nuts on either side.

If I remember correctly it is shaped like this...

_________/--\ <---- pull here

I'm not 100% sure if i recall this correctly... You should look at the shop manual on the main page.

The brake cable is simples rusted on. Use a screw driver or plyers to pull and twist the clip off. Then simply slide the brake line out of the bracket.

I can't seam to find the mazdaracer write up anymore, but heres the shop manual pages to look at for info about the suspension replacement.

http://www.mx-3.com/95manual/index.cfm

Suspension is section R.

Front strut: R-011 to R-0017. 11 is how the strut is removed from the car, and 12 is the disasembly of the strut and spring. The rest is assembly notes (aligment of the springs, inspection, that kind of thing...)

Rear Struts: R-029 to R-033. 29 is strut removal, and 30 is strut disassembly. Rest is assembly notes.

Good Luck

it might be rusted but there is also a clip... i've changed struts and springs on pro / mx-3 3 seperate times now and i know for sure there isa clip... the "pic" he posted is a side view i usually take a screwdriver and wedge it agains the upraised part and hit the screwdriver with a hammer to nock it loose, once that clip is out you can remove the line from the strut
