DUMB question - CAD plating on rotors

Hi all,

I just bought and put on a full set of cross drilled, black CAD plated rotors. Here's the dumb question - is the black "plating" supposed to come off? My guess would be NO but my once black rotors are now silver as all the black coating has rubbed off. They are brand new and we just put on yesterday.

Thanks - how embarrasing I have to ask this question

If it is only coming off where it contacts the pad, then its normal.

Yes it will come off. Black Oxide is only a chemical conversion of the surface metal or plating if it is gold or silver cad and is only a few thousands thick.
