Weird Coolant Issue

Well I have still been trying to figure out my idle problem, and today I switched my radiator cap for a 1.3 bar one cause I had noticed a little seepage around the old one. After I drove the car the idle was still hanging so i parked it with the motor running and noticed it was barelly seeping from the little bolt looking thing on the top of the cap. I wiped it off and it didn't do it anymore, so I shut off the motor. Then it started stedily seeping out of that hole, not really fast but it was coming out. Now the upper hose and cap were severly hot so I felt the lower hose and it was cool with barely any pressure in it. Could this be a sign of a faulty thermostat? The thermo gauge works but it dosent even get to the halfway point, I even unplugged the fans and let it run a little bit and it still didn't get any higher.

mabey tstat stuck oper a little. but the upper hose is the hot hose were hot coolant enters the rad and the lower hose is the cooler hose were coolant returns to the engine . if the rad cap is leaking at all replace it .

Sounds like thermostat to me. How old is it?

swapping to a higher rated radiator cap is asking for trouble.

Not a good idea at all, as you can push out welsh plugs on the block.

to avoid air locks in the system turn your heater to full hot and start up
the car without the raditior cap on and leave the car idling till the thermo
fans kick in, as they only kick in once the thermostat has lifted and is
passing hot water from the block.

Good point, I think he's talking about the filler cap, its between the heads, the rap cap is on the right side of the rad. Sounds like he's got a good air lock.
