I started the kl swap on my 94 escort wagon a few days ago.Im trying to get the car ready for the new drivetrain. The cars got 167k on it so im figthing with broken bolts, broken endlinks, etc. So far ive got the whole harness outta the car,the motor and trans are coming out today, the hubs should be off today, the whole front end is dismantled for pressure washing once the engine is out.Im pickin up my mx3 gs on monday so i should have that car tore apart by next weekend.Heres a few pics of my progress.Let me know what you think.
The before pic
Started tearing into her for a couple hours
Old harness is out
Motor/trans are ready to be pulled
Got most of the front parts off and outta the way
Pulled the axles out,got the hubs almost off, found both broken endlinks
This is where im at after about 4 hours of work
Let me know what you guys think.I dont mind negative comments.Ill have some vids/more pics up in a day or two.

Hey, that was my idea from a few years ago! I've been accumulating parts for the swap, just recently got a good donor car (95 Escort wagon fully loaded, clean, rod knock) so almost all I need is a KL-ZE, ECU, MX-3 axles, and shifter pedals for the scort. I already have the flywheel, clutch, bolts, shifter, crossmember, harness, etc.

im guessin you have the mounts too....just to give you a heads up there is some fabbing your goin to have to do.You have to get 1.8L hubs and spindles, you have to fab a thottle cable bracket, you have to run different power steering lines, rig up the fuel lines to adapt together, different radiator setup...just giving you an idea of what your up against. It should be a fun wagon when im done.I should have it done in about 2 weeks. The parts car is gettin loaded up from michigan as we speak so it should be here by monday.

thats exactly why i chose a wagon.Hopefully ill have enough over winter to put the motor on a healthy 75-100 wet shot, full exhaust,ze mani,ze tb,lsd, some sticky tires, short throw, tokico blues and some coil overs, and a few other mods. This should be one of the most efficient swaps ive done so far.Ill have to post some vids of the car once i get it running. Thanks guys for the comments, and yes i love the shop very much

i picked up ANOTHER parts car today.I got the front hubs, brakes, spindles as well as a rear disk setup and front clip off of it today.Tomorrow ill be taking the crossmember and stock hub assemblies off and put the new hubs in and also convert my car to rear disk and if i get enough motivation ill throw the new front end on the car.Its my 21st birthday at midnight tonight so im not sure how much energy ill have.

Awe mamma. I just went to my brother-in-laws 21st last weekend. WHOOOOO is all I can say. I'm glad I turned 21 a long time ago. Something I'd really like to forget. Too much forced drinking is very bad.
Have fun and hope you are safe.
