hey guys well anywyas I have a 95 RS and I have the alternator problem. Well I had a stock RS alternator in there and it was squeeling whenever the heat was on or AC and Subs. Im driving home one day and the charge lights comes on so I get home and im like the alternator went. I already bought a GS alternator so it wasnt a big deal. Anyways I get it installed a couple of days later and new belt and everything. Im driving around and it starts squeeling again (not as bad this time) so im mad but I can live with it. Than it starts to smell like burning goes away after a bit. Its like this for a few days smells like burning and than yesterday my light comes on again. So I get it home and turn it off and start it back up and now its idling at 2500 RPM's. I need help with this guys I really wanna keep this mx3 cuz I love these cars but cant put up with this anymore.

Thank you

Your belt was too lose, buy a new one, odds are you have done enough damage to the current one to warrent replacing it.

Edit: Oh and before you drive your car around, pop your hood and be sure your belt is still there. If its not DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR. The same belt that turns your alternator turns your water pump and your car will over heat very quickly.

Check the tension on the belt, even though its new, it could be loose.

Also, you could be pulling alot of amperage on your alternator, 70A isnt alot.

What loads to you have on your system aside from the engine, and lights?

hey man isnt a GS alternator a 95 Amp or something like that, because that is what was put in my car. I have a 300 Watt RMS amp with 2 10 inch subs running off it too, but it has had that problem since before I got the system.

The GS alternator is a 90 Amp Mitsushitsi produced alternator. The RS is a 70 Amp Mitsushitsi produced alternator.
