FEELER THREAD: Carbon Fiber Door Handle Buckets

Hey guys.

I've been doing some talking with Oscar about having Carbon Fiber door handle buckets made and he said it can be done.

What we would need are 10 people because of how small they are. The prices would be $60 CDN including shipping within Canada, and $65 CDN including shipping to the USA. To other countries we I’d have to contact Oscar. (Those prices do not include the donation to MX-3.com)

These would of course be made by Oscar @ Pakfeifer.

So the question is, would this be an item of interest?

And before anyone goes screaming about the price, I looked on MiataMania.com and the chrome door handle buckets are $65 US before shipping.

This is just a feeler thread, no molds have been made yet and if enough people are interested we'd all have to wait for the molds to be made than the final product.

So what does everyone think?

Edit: Just to clarify the item at hand we are talking about is the chrome item seen in this picture:

That is what would be made out of Carbon Fiber, NOT the door handles. Just the door "bucket" that goes behind them.

(Before anybody asks, the Carbon Fiber GS Lip and Hatch cover are going to be worked on over the winter, so please do not post asking about them in this thread!)

Agreed.. depends on how they look and whether you will have one for the Power Window Switch as well. Cost of course would be an issue as well.

Do you mean the price listed is an issue? Because i think its really fair price.

Ive sent Oscar the OEM door buckets so he can have a Sample Made. so i'd save it'll probaly be a couple weeks before we get a first glance at how they turn out

Neil - I think I misunderstood what the item is going to be.. I was thinking of the handle you grab to close the door.. not the piece behind the door hatch release lever & lock lever. So the point is moot LOL ;)

I edited my first post to clarify... hopefully people will still be interested. Cause these would be pretty slick looking in CF

I would like to know if they will be freyed and then painted on the ends like the rad supports were. Then I want to know if they will be pre cut and fitted to make sure they were cut properly. For 65 bucks I want a bolt on part that needs no trimming or fitting.

What painted stuff? The dash kit would probaly be exspensive... And i don't know how you'd mount it, I dont think molding all the clips and screw things on the back would be easy to make.

I'm interested as well. Depends on fitment.
