can anyone help a poor young guy out? i just bought a 94 mx-3 GS and it needs some repairs to pass safety and especially Emissions. So my major issue is that it blows oil out of the muffler whenever i step on the gas. Im hoping i wont have to spend and arm and a leg fixing this as in rebuild or engine swap.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks :D

You mean it blows soreta bluish white smoke? or is it black smoke? can be bad rings or bad valve seals.. to pass emissions use thicker oil during testing ... still i dont know..i wish you good luck because if its rings then most likely it wont pass. I made an old toyota pass with bad valve seals.

That is alot of oil!! You'll need to find and fix the leak before you'll pass. I'd ask a good mechanic to find the problem and then tell you what your options are. You could do a swap for relatively cheap (compared to a rebuild). Could be piston rings, valve seals, really bad injector seals or maybe even a crack in the block somwhere. Do a compression check to help see how bad the leak is.

I would lke pat said, take it to a mechanic for a second opinion

I know two of my cars have a bad habit of passing a lot of water
and carbon ( damm catalictic converters ) and can spit it a fair
distance if you just sit there and rev it.

If it is oil, thats a hell of a lot of oil, and yea your be best to swap
the motor out, a lot of the guys on here have k8's just stitting aorund
that you might be able to score for shipping and a case of beer..
