I think I wanna go BP. I found a newer model protege. Will it work if i use a 90-94 wiring harness?

It might work - but you have to do a lot of splicing - i am going through this new gen BP swap and it is a lot different from the previous BP and its somewhat different from B6DE too.

ah i see. Well I guess I will continue hunting for a 90-94 BP. I wanna make this swap as painless and quick as possible, since this is my daily driver. And I also hate wiring and splicing lol.

boris your like me I hate wires, just get everything you need together before you start ecu harness. new belts water pump, good clutch kit.. and it's really simple just unplug and replug in or unbolt and rebolt.

ya thats what i'm trying to do. I'm hoping to pick up a whole engine with harness (already got vaf and ecu :) ) and have a winter BP project.

it will work, you can use your original wireing harness... just have to move the one plug from under in intake manifold to under the water outlet. also, you need to get a distributor off of a 90-94 protege your stock ecu will work (vicks will not activate + lower rev limit)

I heard that it's way better to swap in the protege ecu as opposed to using the sohc. why is this?

The protege ecu has the proper fuel maps for the BP - and sohc ecu will not activate vics.

Just do it right and get the protege ecu.....It will be worth it in the long run

if your gettting a 95+ bp you need the intake manifold and tb from a 90-94 because the tps is different and also the injector harness so vics can work

good luckwith your swap :D
