Just got a lilttle question... or 2...
I wonder why the ECU should be swapped or reprogrammed?
i have swapped the engine and it runs fine so far...
is there any direct fit Y-pipe for exhaust? dunno if its the correct name but its the pipe going up to the engine
thanks!

well... what engine to what engine did u go? Im assuming k8 to a de or ze? reason for this its because of the vris and fuel maps. .. i would check every singlke marking to make sure you did not get your same engine or not the one you wanted. The ze will run ok with the k8 ecu but it needs klze ecu i guess to run fine.

It is worth the money to get the correct ECU. The gain in HP is pretty decent going from a K8 ECU running a DE or ZE to the DE or ZE ECU (depending on which you have).
The ZE ECUs are hard to find, but I have a reprogrammed one and it works very well. Reprogrammed ones are usually more expensive and are not any better than the stock ECU, so if you can find the stock ECU get it.
No exhaust pipes will fit the DE or ZE and the MX-3 stock exhaust. You need to get headers and then have an exhaust shop build the rest of the exhaust for you. (cat back exhaust).

This isn't exactly true. The flange on the rear K8 manifold is clocked differentely. Other than this there is there is no other difference in the manifolds. If you swap the K8 manifold to the KL the stock Y pipe will bolt up. The other option is to cut and turn the flange to mate the KL manifold. As far as stock replacement go Bosal, Walker and LaPointe all make OE replacement Y pipes. LaPointe is by far the best. Less distortion in the pipes and includes all the necessary gaskets and hardware.
