How do I turn off the HEAT (light)?

I have a used MX-3 from Japan (a Mazda Eunos Presso Si, I'm told).

The HEAT light (apparenly this light does not exist on non-Japanese versions of the MX-3) is on all the time. Any of you know if and how it can be reset?

I do remember having had the same problem once with a Japanese Toyota Hilux Surf (Forerunner), and the light went off after I resetted the CPU.

BTW: What does this warning light warn for?

To reset the ecu, dis-connect the -ve battery terminal, depress the brake for 5 secs (or pump the brake), then connect the battery again...

I've only seen the "heat" once before whilst car was running...., water had run out and the engine was over-heating!

This procedure I had already tried but to no avail.

When I did a search on this in the forums I found a post where somebody found a loose connector behind the panel on the left side of the console and when he connected it the HEAT light went on.

I did the reverse and disconnected this connector. But I'm not sure what this lamp is telling. As far as I know it has something to do with the sensor in the exhaust.
