What impresses me just as much is the price.

agreed, but the only fuzzy thing is how the hell is 20 hp supose to get you up to highway speeds in a reasonable ammount of time to make merging on short on ramps safe?

The thing weighs less than half a ton, it won't take much hp to get it up to speed. It will be slow, but good enough.

I don't quite see how they're pulling this off, though. Pretty insane, considering a much lighter scooter with a weaker engine doesn't even get that kind of mileage.

Oh, and bump. :)

I don't get it.. I don't think 20HP can make a motorcycle or even an R/C car go 100 mph. I've always wanted to turbo a 2 stroke, though!

man, this is soooo impressive the price is ridiculous, cars like this normally run over 100k, but the shady part is the 20 hp, i doubt such car will ever make it to canada... but if it ever does, im definitely getting one.

Looking at the numbers wrong. I read this post first, and I got me thinking what can 20hp do, but I think that the hp is completely irrelevant since it's a turbo diesel. It may only me making 20hp, but it'll probably make significan't amount of torque, probably which is most of the reason on why it gets that good milleage.

A good comparison would be a Ford Festiva,my buddy had one for a bit and it wouldn't really make it to 140km/h, 120 was scary enough, but that thing had a 1.3L Mazda B3. It gets really good milleage considering, I think my buddy got like 600-800kms a tank on it and to full cost less than $20. That motors makes 64hp and 77tq on regular gas. 20 years later, I'm sure we can get good power out of a proper small turbo diesel, and I'm sure we all know that diesel engines are known to make alot of torque. As well, that car actually weights significantly less than a Festiva, which actually weights 725kg, and add the fact of it's nice aerodynamic body, I'm sure that all those numbers are real, and that car will perform much better than most people would guess.

I imagine those rims are only for prototype pictures , I might consider actually purchasing this car if it goes into production , I wonder if it has any storage space at all though ,

Found a little more info , seems that they are making a version with 50hp and releasing WORLDWIDE in 2009 woo hoo .

Loremo AG plans to sell the Loremo LS for less than 11,000 Euros (~$13,000).
One reason for the low consumption is the low weight of 450kg. The company designed the Loremo focusing on safety and efficiency and got rid of unnecessary functions. The car is small but still provides space for 4.
The design of the car is very futuristic and has for instance no conventional doors.

Loremo AG also plans to offer the Loremo GS with a bit stronger engine (50 hp, 2.7l/100km) that reaches top speeds of 220km/h (for the German Autobahn).
More details on the Loremo site.

Update:
Loremo AG plans to have the first cars available in 2009. They plan to ship world-wide.
