That pisses me off
Some dude at Autozone quoted me $700 for the passenger CV Axel along with a half shaft
Of course, this was back when I was replacing my Passenger CV Axel about a week ago and didnt know how to remove the Intermediate Shaft away from the CV Axel
He said it would cost that much at a Mazda Dealer
I doudt it would be that much
Maybe $300 for a Intermediate Shaft alone?

When it comes to being rediculously over priced, never put anything past a mazda dealership.

So I should expect to pay $700 for just a Intermediate Shaft?

haha. find a junkyard one. I got one for 50. Then i broke it trying to take a cv shaft out of it. foudn another for 25. they are rare to find at junkyards but its worth a 3 hour drive to save you 300 bucks

Mazda wants $250.
If you can find a really good machine shop, they should be able to replace the bearing on the old one ..... I assume that's all that was bad with the old one?

One last question
Do the spider gears fall off a MTX tranny if you remove both CV joints?
Or does that only apply on AUtomatics?

I had no problems of any kind when removing both my axles at the same time.

Thats the best thing i've heard of this forum and its so true
I needed the halfshaft and went to mazda it was $300 CAD.
When I rebuilt my ZE I needed heagaskets..all the part stores wanted $150-$170 each...Mazda wanted $65 each.
Always call Mazda on your searches guys.

I could help you out with that
Get a hammer, turn the haftshaft to where the part that goes into the tranny is facing you, then hit the red oval...
