Mazda V-6 Stock power

Post by thedog300 »

I am seriously considering buying drewleedham's MX-3. How much power do Stock V6's have. I have only been in V4's before. With exaust, headers, intake, and the normal stuff, can you unlock a lot of power? I don't need alot of power, just enough torque to throw you back in your seat, enough power to get me over 220, enough accelleration to beat any grand prix or civic or 240sx after a stop light? Or would A KL-ZE be required for what I'm looking for?

130hp stock, not much can be done for power unless u swap. It can keep up with certain cars but that is not the point. The motor works alright and is fine for a normally driven car. If you want mor power then consider a KLDE or KLZE swap.

Never ridden in a v4 before....

Well the stock v6 is not much diff from a 4 banger since its only a 1.8 liter with 130 hp. Alot of 4 bangers have biiger displacemnt and more HP then our factory v6.

I rode in my friends 1.6 and it was ok but it did seem slower than the stock v6. The k8 is a bit more powerfull than the bp (i got an escort gt) The k8 seems to rev better i guess mkore pistons. However the k8 has not much room for mods that give power and the bp does.

I was pulling away from an SI the other day, and got really far ahead once we hit the corners. Stock K8.
But saying your car is faster than a civic isn't saying much. You can get vans that are faster.

Bottom line, the GS doesn't have much power, but enough to have a lot of fun with on the track or those hilly windy back roads. Is it faster than the generic dirt bag civic, sunfire, neon, sunbird crap in Brockville? Yes. And like all Mazda's it handles very well.

Also, the car tops out at about 200kph, other people might claim to get it higher but after 200kph it climbs VERY SLOW. So it might be possible to get 220kph, but bring a lunch, its going to be a while.

The GS is also even worse than the RS on insurance. Considering your age, if you plan on having it in your name, look for another car unless you have some cash. When I was 19 I would have been paying over $300 a month WITHOUT collision and that is with the discount of a driving course. I'm still paying around a couple hundred a month for a 12 year old car.

Here in America, i only pay $110 a month which is nothing
If I had a regular car like a 4door, it would be like $70

Thing about those SIs is that, they only have like 180hp and 110ft torque and thats at like 7,500RPMs. Yet they weigh like 2200lbs which is about 300lbs lighter then our cars.

Get some light weight 15 inch rims, KLZE, do all the basic mods like exhaust and 9lb flywheel, CAI and you should be able to take on them easily. A KLZE has more torque and HP. We also get power quicker then their cars

I think American insurance is a lot less because you can get a lot less coverage. Here in Ontario Canada most stuff is required including collision if it’s a lease or bank loan most of the time.
I know a person who lives in the states and had Geico that was insanely cheap compared to insurance here. Except his car was stolen and I guess theft wasn't part of the package, so now he is out a complete car.

But i'm no expert on that stuff, just going by what i've been told.
