my friend just got one and now my little mx-3 is back to the bottom of the food chain behind everyone in the neighbourhood.
What do I need to my mx-3 to have a chance at beating his 270+ hp?

klze and a 75 shot of nitrous should do the trick, your about 700lbs lighter than him. How do you know he's got 270+ hp if its completely stock that year they only put out about 215 @4200rpms now they put down some nice torque @ 288lbs @3300rpms. If he's stock i'd say you could probably do a simple klze swap, with headers, exhaust,, CAI, and Hei blaster mod with decent plug wires. He will more than likely take you off the line, but you should catch up quickly.
I've raced a few 5.0's and some i've had my a-- handed to me and others i've nailed. It all really depends on how much your willing to spend. if you have a stock 1.8v6 your not gonna catch him with that motor unless you do dump major $$$$$ into it.
