Florida Mazda MX3/MX6/Probe meet in West Palm August 25-26th

Post by hppwdn »

It's here again!!! The second Annual state-wide Florida meet in West Palm Beach. Last year was a great success and this year's looks even better. After last year the name "Flyrtle Fladness" was given to the meet so that is what I'll call it.

This year I am doing t-shirts for the event and have also rounded up some sponsors to provide door prizes and make the event a little more fun for everyone.

The sponsors so gratiously donating prizes to our event are:
PRD http://www.prdonline.com
Probe Addiction http://www.probeaddiction.com
Probe Garage http://www.probegarage.com
Power Squirt Industries http://www.powersquirt.com
Corksport http://www.corksport.com
MBX Motorsports http://www.mbxmotorsports.net
Outlaw Engineering http://www.outlawengineering.com

Now to the details:

Friday August 25th: Moroso track meet (I will have awards for the top performers at the track)

Gates open at 6PM. So if we all get there between 5:30 & 6PM we should be able to get pretty close to each other in the staging lanes. I know a lot of people are arranging their trip around getting there for the track meet Friday.

Here's the address of the track. Cost to race is $15. I think cost to watch is $13

MOROSO MOTORSPORTS PARK
17047 Beeline Hwy.
Jupiter, FL 33478

Saturday August 26th: Flyrtle Fladness official BBQ & Meet at Okeeheelee Park (Tuskeegee Pavilion)
Food will be provided for everyone. There will be all the typical BBQ items plus tons of soda and water & snacks. Alcohol is responsibly permitted at the park if you would like to bring a little something extra.
The Tuskeegee pavillion has a private parking lot for 40+ cars plus the same parking around the pavilion like we had at last year's meet. This year we can back everyone's cars in & have a lot of great photo opportunities. I believe there's also a playground adjacent to the pavilion if anyone would like to bring children.

7715 Forest Hill Blvd.
West Palm Beach, FL 33413
http://www.co.palm-beach.fl.us/parks/lo ... heelee.htm

It costs $106.50 to reserve the pavillion plus a $100 deposit.

Just like last year I'll be entertaining paypal contributions to sweetrecords@hotmail.com. Should the contributions clear the cost of renting the pavilion I'll put it into prizes to give away. Last year we gave away a Megasquirt.

I will be doing preorders for the shirts for $15 each so I can make one big order and hand them out at the event. Hopefully I can order a few extra for peolpe who decide they want one day of.

The shirts will look as follows:

We had almost 50 cars come out last year and everyone had a great time.

Let's make it another great meet this year. I hear there will be quite a few more boosted cars at the track. That should make things interesting.

I doesn't cost you anything to go. The mention of $100 was just what I had to pay to rent the pavilion.

Sorry for the lack of replies. I just finished moving and starting a new job.

I called Moroso and everything is still on for the Friday Test and Tune and everything is set for the BBQ at Okeeheelee. I'll post a little update from what I've been posting on other boards.

We did it last year about this time and it turned out to be a great get together for the Mazda community so we're doing it again.

August 25-26th in West Palm Beach, FL.

Friday, August 25th is a little track get together at Moroso for the Friday Night Test and Tune. Track meets are always fun. It's nice to see a bunch of the same cars get to show up and race together.

Saturday, August 26th is an all day BBQ at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach. If you've never been to this park it's an amazing place. It's one of the largest parks around and was very welcoming to our meet last year. I've reserved a pavilion with over 40 private parking spaces and at least 100 more spaces adjacent to it so parking is plentiful.

Burgers, Hot Dogs, & Sodas etc will be provided. Alcohol is responsibly permitted. There is also an playground for those that would like to bring their children.

This year I have reserved the Tuskeegee pavilion. It's on top of a hill over looking one of the many lakes in Okeeheelee. Great for photo ops for all the cars and a nice breeze to keep things cool all day.

The BBQ will be starting around 10AM and lasting till around 5PM.

Everyone is welcome and there will be a few prize giveaways from Mazda Vendors who have chosen to sponsor the event.

Many thanks to Corksport, Outlaw Engineering, Powersquirt.com, PRDonline.com, & MBXmotorsports.net for helping put this event on.

For all those that attended last year thanks for coming out and hope to see you this year. Many thanks to the IPMCSFL crew for coming out last year.

If you didn't make it last year check out some pics and I look forward to meeting you this year.

If you need directions to Okeeheelee check out their website at the link below.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at sweetrecords@hotmail.com or reply here in the thread.

For those caravaning from Orlando here's some caravan info from Probetalk and a link to the post.

http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701207782

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After researching a few routes, I decided based on the price of gas, to avoid using the Turnpike (thus avoiding the added expenses of tolls). Taking I-95 down the whole way should only add minutes to the total trip and will make it easier by eliminating excessive exits and switch-offs. The primary route will use the least amount of roads possible, so that if someone gets lost or left behind somehow, they can easily find their way. I am thinking of adding a secondary route as an alternate way to get there, in case we find there is a serious jam on I-95. Also, should there be people coming from other areas such as Deltona, Daytona, Tampa, Jax, etc... other meeting areas can be set up along the way to rendezvous with this people. Please make it known if you are coming from an area other than Orlando, so arrangements can be made ahead of time.

Primary Route - The first meeting area with be at the Publix on East Colonial Drive on the corner of Chuluota Rd in Bithlo. Anyone who has been to the track knows where this is. There is a big parking lot there, along with food/beverage/restroom facilities in the store, and a gas station right next to it. We will be meeting up there around 8am, and leaving there by 8:30am. From there...

1: Start out going EAST on E COLONIAL DR / 3.2 miles

2: Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto FL-520 E. / 23.0 miles

3: Merge onto I-95 S toward MIAMI. / ~137.0 miles

4: Take exit- EXIT 66- FOREST HILL BLVD / FL-882 W

5: Bear RIGHT on FOREST HILL BLVD / FL-882 W / ~6.0 miles

6: End at 7715 Forest Hill Blvd
West Palm Beach, FL 33413-3337, US

Not counting the time it takes to get to the first meeting spot, total drive time should be about 2.5-3 hours.
Approx 170 miles each way.
