hey all i was wounderin if miata pistons would be better for the 1.6 dohc as compression wise or not or if its just a better piston all around. thanks guys.

well stock for stock they are exactly the same in the 1.6L. but if you were going to run a BP then steping up to a 99-02 miata piston would be ideal because the compression is higher, 10:1 vs 9:1. but as far as the 1.6L goes all the inturnals are the same except the cams

so putting miata pistons in wont be better than the ones i already have? Also i have to stay with the 1.6 cause im out here in cali and i dont want to go through the crap to get it legal with the bp. And in ur guys opinion should i put all miata parts in it or no? or what do u guys suggest to do. Im not lookin for major power increase on this motor cause i have a type s rsx that im doin up i just want this car to be a little more fun to drive.

wiseco sells 3 different pistons for the 1.6 B6 and 3 low + 2 high compression for the BP... they're all like 800 bucks though..

Want power..boost it... low boost like 10 psi... build a CHEAP a-- turbo kit with a New turbo...
Get a miata 1.6L turbo manifold and have the engine-side flange cut off, rotated 180 degrees and TIG'd back on..You're basically done.. buy and build from there...

I've observed that:
Overboring and not stroking = more low end torque gains
Stroking and not overboring = higher hp less or same torque
Doing both (and re-tuning) = the curves mostly look the same just higher on the graph..

there are alot more sizes available for the B6 than what you have shown. they may just not be listed.

if you dont want a major power increase then just swap in a 1.8L BP, 125hp to the crank, cant beet that over 105hp to the crank or 88 for the sohc. if you can find a 99-02 miata engine it can go in and it puts down about 140. its all pretty straight forward. and shouldent kill your CA emissions, you shouldent have a problem.

I have a set of weisco forged 9:1 pistons in my engine currently. Think they are 1mm overbore.
