been gone a long while (MX3 damaged)

Last summer I'm pulling out of work on my lunch break and I get stuck in the rightmost lane of a three lane road. Speed limit is 45 and the people in my lane are all turning right slowly. No biggie, I have time to get my lunch. The green light before the one I'm approaching turns green and this Neon coming racing down the street like satan's henchmen burning a trail to hell and rearends me. The driver was talking on her cell phone at the time, off to a day at the malls from Madison.

Longish story short, my MX3 got some significant damage. The guy who did some repairs said that there wasn't enough structural integrity left in the back to survive another rearend hit at speed. Since then, I've left my baby in a garage, waiting for me to repair. The car also has some preexisting tranny issues that I figure will be gone with a complete engine/tranny swap. I can also see the rust eating away at the car. Is there anything I can really do about that

My question to you folks who are in the know, judging from the pictures below (not the best angles I know), can the car be repaired, or would I be better off getting another MX3?

I got rear ended in mine and just went on my merry way. It was enough to bend my driver's seat, but my rear bumper was fine.

I didn't even know there were any Wisconsinite MX-3 owners on here. There's two?
