Polyester Resin?(Durham Region area)

Post by Typhoonk »

Anybody know where to get large amounts of Polyester Resin?

Yep have some projects. I've checked around and I can get it from BC but don't want to pay for shipping.

Looking to pay about $80 for five (5) gallons.

Tired of paying $15 for a quart (1litre). Gets expensive when doing large projects.

Let me know phone # so I can check em out.

Ask on the Team Slipstream boards, that it a local club (to you), it wouldn't surprise me if they would know.

Find a plastics shop or a boat repair place in your area and ask if they sell resin. If this is for car stereo apps, ask for 'Laminating Resin'. You don't need to sand it between coats. 'Finishing Resin' is what most of the stuff sold in stores is, and you're supposed to sand it again after each coat dries. Finishing resin is only needed when the fiberglass will be exposed. But in car stereo, we ALWAYS paint or vinyl wrap our pieces anyways.

poylester resin is the proper name for it, fiberglass resin doesn't exist its slang. if your up for a bit of a drive in burlington you can go to the fiberglass supply store i belive its on brant st i could be wrong on the street name but its by the lake down the street from best buy, they sell everything from resin to fiberglass mat, carbon fiber mat, styerofoam, and two part expanding foam. there prices are pretty cheap close to getting it at cost, they also carry tint for the resin if you want to get creative.

off the top of my head i think thats the best place around you can try a 411.ca search to see if they have and other stores closer to you
