Problem with my 12" Solobarics

I got a box with two round 12" Solobarics and it doesnt bump at all. I can feel that the subs are on but theyre just not hitting at all. I have wired the amp properly and it powers on. I know the subs are working because they were hitting hard in my friends car when I put them in there. I just cant figure out whats wrong. I'm thinking maybe the amp is broken but like I said earlier, it powers on. Anyone got any suggestions?

Have you set the inout level on the amp to match your pre-amp output? Have you played around with the db level control and the filters in the amp?

I have no clue about input level on the amp matching the preout output, dont even know what that means so obviously I didnt do that. I did check the filters and levels on the amp though and theyre set all the way up and the filters on LP or something if i remember right.

In my setup (Sony Xplod CDX-MP70 Head Unit) the preamp output is 2V according to specs. I set my amp (Sony Xplod XPL280) input level adjustment to 2V and that's where it bumps the max. If you dont know what your preamp level is - keep the db level at max and then just play around with the input level adjustment till it starts bumping heavily. Also try it with your filter in "off" position (if you have an off position). You can play with the filter after it starts rocking.

That didnt help. Hopefully tonight I can try a friends amp in my car and see if that helps. I'm all out of ideas of what it can be.

What headunit & amp do you have? Do the specs match? Have you enabled the sub output in the headunit? Is there a subwoofer volume adjustment in the headunit?

I got a 500W Alpine amp, a Sony Xplod MD player head unit. I dont know if the specs match, all I know is that it used to work great and now it doesnt since I put it in this car. I dont know what you're talking about with sub output on the headunit, I've never had to do that before, and there is no subwoofer adjustment on the head unit.

I switched my amp with a friends amp and now everythings good. So now I know it was my amp that was broken. Now I gotta get another amp. Thanks everyone for trying to help me out.

Are the speakers working? When you put on a bass track and go to the trunk, can you see the subs moving? If so, are both speakers wired in-phase? ........ i.e. when one sub goes up, is the other one also going up, or is it going down?

Ended up still not working now. The amp didnt help like i thought so now Im back at square 1. And the speakers do move and make noise when on but just barely any. And they are wired in phase. I'm about to make a new post for this as im getting frustrated.

you didnt say if the new amp works better its got to be two things the wiring did you use good stuff rcas are a big thing having the rigt gage of wire and need a good gound if you bought a kicker anp and a good one you should be pushing 800 to a 1000 wats everything needs to be decent grade even speaker wire to box and inside of box. if thats all good its got to be your deck

I've used 4 gauge wire and 8 gauges wires. I've rewired the whole car, used 3 different sets of RCAs and all the wiring to the amp is fine. I couldnt have messed up wiring on all 4 amps. I know how to hook up systems good, I do it w/o any problems on every one of my friends cars and on my previous 3 cars. This car is just giving me a big problem and I cant figure out why. I've had people look at it and nobody could figure it out.
