Engine degreaser VS Oven cleaner!!

Post by hgallegos915 »

So i tried all kinds of "tough" stuff for my engine since i poulled it out. Im cleaning it nice and shiny.. mytranny was full of oil.. I found some oven cleaner that said its to remove grease.... hmm sprayed it on.. let it sit for 2 mins..water hosed it down and WOAH tranny is sqauky clean.. all dry no oil!! did it on the engine (without touching the seals and gaskets) and WOAH NICE. Did it on my burned intake manifolkd and WOAH returned to its original metal color!!! tomorrow ill do the engine bak (metal pieces) this thing is only one dllr.. oh its harmfull if sniffed can cause astma but heck it does the job!

WIll it harm anyting in the engine bay? I've been wanting to do this again. Last time it didn't come out all that great. I'd like to try this, as long as it doesn't kill anything, like the hoses and wires.

I only used it in metal pieces like engine mounts, transmission casing engine sides, underneath the headers. I didnt use it near any sensors just to be save. that stuff is pretty strong..makes your finger hurt if u spray alot on it....

i used this chemical called B52 its an idustrial cleaner, you can use it on alot of metals, as long as they are not polished (it has a list of what you can use it on, and man it works wonders, the only bad thing is make sure you where latex gloves :) and even then you will have to change your gloves often :)
