What stores might have spray paint in Z1 code??

Post by FIMotorMX-3 »

Like the topic says, I'm trying to find a place in New Jersey (e.g. Pepboys, Autozone, Napa, Advance) that might have a spray paint in Z1 color code. Has anyone looked for this code in the stores? I just got some Mazdaspeed Sideskirts and I need to prep and paint (they're a little beat up). Was hoping to attemt this tomorrow, but being SUnday, I don't know if I'll have much luck. Napa should have the paint I need, but I don't know if I'll find one open tomorrow. Also, does anyone know if I'll have to buy clear coat or would this be a single stage paint? I know that Z1 is one of the cheaper color codes according to Corksport. I don't want to use a sprayer if I don't have to. Would rather find this paint in a spraycan form. Thanks guys.

Thanks guys.. I drove around today to see what I could find while i got some fiberglass to repair the skirts. Unfortunately you are absolutely correct dj. Seems as if the z1 code has been the forgotten color. Dupont carries almost every other color in a spraycan. Thanks aries, I saw that link on one of your threads when I was doing a search and I think I'm going to have to go with that. Unless I go to napa and get the color mixed. I'm worried about the match of the colors with a mixture though. When I bought my rear mudguards they came already painted as a perfect match. I"m hoping I can acheive the same with these skirts. I've got my fingers crossed. I'm no pro.

Havent you guys got a brand over there called motip?

My cars a Z1 and i use motip everytime, allmost 100% exact match, actually i think the little mismatch there is, could come from a little sunfading on the car..

Thanks for the info reprobation. I ordered the spray paint tonight. Got tired of seeing the skirts laying around so I installed them last week. Now I was tired of looking at them flat black so the paint is one it's way. There is a couple pics up on my myspace of the sideskirts as they are now as well as the car lowered. I'll be updating my cardomain also. Hopefully the car will be all painted soon. There is also a site http://www.paintforcars.com They have single stage paint kits for 65-69 bucks. If the skirts don't work out with this touch up paint, I'm going to stop into this place and talk with them. They aren't far from me. It might be a good option for someone looking to change the color of their car. Check out the customer testimonials. Some of the paint jobs look pretty good. Can't beat the price if you are a diy.... I found paintforcars on Ebay.

I looked up Motip and it looks as if they are a European version of Duplicolor here. Unfortunately Duplicolor forgot us z1 owners. :(
