Need new ATX and V6, do these combinations work?

Hi,

I have a 92 GS that needs a new transmission. I am looking to save some money fixing it so the ATX to MTX swap is out. My engine either needs new valve seals OR new piston rings. Because of this I wouldn't mind putting a new engine in there with the new ATX.

My questions are:

1) Am I stuck using the K8 ATX no matter what engine I get or can I use a KF/KL ATX with a K8 engine?

2) If I get a KF or KL engine I know the K8 ATX will work but what about the KF or KL ATX?

The reason I am asking is because I am having a very hard time finding a reasonably priced (under $1000) transmission.

I wouldn't mind putting a KF or KL engine in as long as the price is right with the transmission. If anyone can point me to a good reseller or if they have one themselves that would be great. I am just looking for anything to get this car back into shape.

Thanks.

Sorry but the best (and almost only) thing you can do is swap both the engine and do an ATX-MTX swap (or part it out 'n start again)

The consensus is the KL/KF ATX won't physically fit in the MX3, and while you can run a KL/KF with the K8 ATX, it's not really recommended, and it's not a straightforward swap either
