If I buy one, what should I look for:

V6 or 4cyl ?
Any particular year the best ?

Any ideas or comments would be welcome.

I'd look for a V6 with a manual trans. Avoid automatic transmissions completely. All I've ever read about the auto trans. is that it's trouble.
There seems to be several other areas of concern when looking for a MX3, power window switches go bad, sunroof switch goes bad, C.V. joints need replacing prematurely, front wheel bearings can be an issue. If it hasn't had the timing belt replaced, that should be one of the first concerns. I know that sounds like alot of problems, but truthfully, some of it is just general maintenance. Overall the MX3 is a great little car and a hell of lot of fun to drive. Just look for one that has been maintained and maybe already had some of these issues repaired. Use some of these issures as a bargaining tool when discussing price with the seller. Good Luck and I do highly recommend the MX3.

I think Blue MX-3 pretty much nailed it.

Mine's a '93 GS MTX, and has had no problems after 140,000 miles on original parts. Look for a special edition 8)

I have only owned one, and count myself very lucky that I seemed to have stumbled across a winner first time!

My '93 E-Spec V6 is black with only 75K on the clock.

:D

Pete.

4cyl Mx3s are good too but will never give off the same type of exhaust sound as a V6

Agreed, good selection. As far as the auto trader is concerned, your sidekick should be nearly the same value as the silver mx3 since the mx is completely stock. The charcoal one however has been modified and has the ZE engine and a few cosmetic mods. 2 trains of thought here. The car lot one should be able to come down in price. I would not even attempt to trade in a used for a used since you give up a reasonable bargaining chip. Buy car outright and sell sidekick privately in both cases. Paying cash to the lot you may get it for less than 4. I believe you may be able to do the same with the charcoal one. Perhaps the charcoal one belongs to a member here. I would make absolutely sure that everything is tip top with the ZE engined one. Too many times have people been burned by others who tried shortcuts to install a ZE and finally gave up only to pass their problems onto someone else.. Take both cars out for a test drive within as close of time of each other as possible. If need be, post in the Toronto forum to have someone go with you to very the integrity of the ZE and of the other one too. Good luck
John

be careful with that 1st mx3 in rexdale. The street the "dealer" is on is an autobody area. these guys may have taken a salvage car and fixed it so they can make some money. Lots of shady characters in that area. My girlfriends brother used to work in that area.

I checked the carfax on the silver one, it came out clean, which I know may not be correct but pretty close. Thanks for all the good ideas guys.

If anyone knows of a mx3 for sale anywhere up to as far as Ontario that you can vouch for, let me know here or email to netcom@islandtelecom.com
