soo, i was doin some research on the Maine State Laws of getting a Salvage Title for a car comin out of a salavage yard. so far ive learned that if i can restore the car, and have proof of recpits to show all the parts were bought and installed, and not stolen... i might be able to secure a title.

so... that means, im paying 500 USD for a 92 GS with 129,xxx miles or so. needs new windshield, headlights (upgrade to projectors), hood (upgrade to CF oem), rear bumper, passenger rear quarter panel, minor repairs to the front bumper, repair / replace interior plastics, restore the leather seats, so far the motor needs a new disty cap, battery, and plug the fans back in...... im goin back this week to take pictures of the car, ill post those. but so far am i gettin a good deal?

I would say just wait and get a non-salvage title car. Sounds like a lot of work for that MX-3 to be driveable again.

Plus, even if you get a title for it, it will always say SALVAGE title on it and will be worth NOTHING (Literally) if you try to sell it or trade it.

I would also be willing to bet there is frame damage on that car if you ahve to replace all those body panels.

On a side note-- just "replacing" a rear quarter panel is not so easy.. it has to be cut off and a new one welded on.

You are looking at spending a few thousand dollars to comply with Maine state laws, then your car will not even be worth that $500 you paid for it in the beginning since it has the SALVAGE brand.

Take my advice and Move on.

I'm with ATL on this one. The value of the car is knocked down considerably, just because it's salvaged. If you ever sell it, no matter what you do to it, it will be hard to get more than 1g for it. My GS parts car came with fresh paint, tons of accessories, a blown tranny, and a clean title for $500. Great parts cars are very very hard to come by, but you will save thousands on fixing it up if you wait for the right one.

depends on how much money it'll cost in parts
